Apes and Androids
Apes and Androids have already generated a lot of attention since their inception in April 2006. Their exuberant performances are something between a rock opera and a dance-off with equal parts hand clapping and head-banging, at times bordering on the absurd, with giant puppets, 3D slideshows and 50 people jumping around in upside-down sleeping bags. They are currently recording their debut full-length due out later this year.Official Web Site

Project Jenny, Project Jan
Brooklyn duo Project Jenny, Project Jan is an undertaking that is constantly evolving. Consisting of Jeremy Haines (vocalist) and Sammy Rubin (programmer/keyboardist), the bands compelling five-song debut EP is an unexpected journey through genres: at times, pop-infused rock is pummeled with homespun dance beats; while quieter moments reveal the bands thoughtful, artful and tender tendencies.Official Web Site

Puttin' on the Ritz
As many documents have been lost and/or destroyed, much of the origins and early history of this particular ensemble remains obscured. Perhaps future generations will be able to unearth more evidence, but that remains to be seen. What is known is that Puttin' On The Ritz consists of two human beings, both male and above the age of consent. They have been known to imbibe large quantities of alcohol before, during, and after their performances; for some reason this is their preference. Occasionally this obsession with intoxication produces disastarous results; other times they are merely threatened with violence. The problem is not that they are unaware of the answer, but that they forgot what the question was. Time will tell, weather permitting.

Rogers Sisters

Miyuki Furtado - Vocals, Bass
Jennifer Rogers - Vocals, Guitar
Laura Rogers - Drums, Vocals
THE ROGERS SISTERS have been an underground secret since the turn of the century, as anyone who's witnessed their hip-shaking, synapse-firing live show can attest. Building on the spiky dance floor maneuvers of last year's Three Fingers mini-album and 2002's debut LP Purely Evil (on the Troubleman Unlimited label), The Invisible Deck(2006) exudes a melodic intensity that should transform them from in-concert maestros to home-listening favorites.

Slowlands

Slowlands is a young country. It was born in the cracks of a wooden table, under an electric fireplace in a Long Island basement. It grew up under an overpass in the wilds of Brooklyn. It lies in a bunkbed in a door with a drawer in the window, while the winter feeds its sleep.
Slowlands is made up of Josh Kolenik , Juan Pieczanski, Ryan Heyner, Jeff Curtin, and Eric Hirsch.

Takka Takka
Gabe Levine - Vocals, Guitar, Keys Conrad Doucette - Drums, Damion Jurrens - Guitar, Grady Jurrens - Bass You never know when the inspiration will hit. For Takka Takka singer and guitarist Gabe Levine it came upon returning to Brooklyn in early 2004 after some ill-spent time in Texas. After a year of writing music with rotating members, a band finally took shape in the form of drummer Conrad Doucette and guitarist Damion Jurrens alongside bassist John Paul Jones (-- totally his real name). Together they began crafting a set of matchless pop tunes that acknowledged Gotham inspirations like Lou Reed, Bob Dylan, and Philip Glass while also owing a debt to 90's luminaries including Guided By Voices and Pavement.
We Feel Safer At Night -- along with the three-track "Talk Faster EP" also included on the band's Ernest Jenning re-issue -- was recorded with Charles Burst at Brooklyn's Seaside Lounge and tweked in Levine's home studio where he meticulously added the details. "The recording process was kind of painful," he recalls. "I spent 10 hours a day working on this stuff. By the end, some of the tracks had 20 keyboard overdubs." The result is an eclectic, jubilant set of songs that has already gained strong acclaim from the press and their peers.
The band spent 2006 performing for enthusiastic crowds throughout the US including a tour with Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and Architecture In Helsinki, They were also met with high acclaim at this year's SXSW and CMJ festivals, and have shared local and international stages with The Wrens, The National, My Brightest Diamond, and Nicole Atkins.
In late 2006, Jones left the band and the current line-up includes Damion's brother, Grady Jurrens on bass. The quartet are already back in the writing process and will be returning to Seaside Lounge in the fall of 2007 to record their sophomore LP, due for release by Ernest Jenning in early 2008.Official Web Site
