If sitcom-style hijinks is what you aim for rather than timely oberservational humor, I guess you've succeeded. And if this is just practice and friendly-happy-playtime (until you guys start getting noticed by people who will pay you lots of money for doing something similar to this) rather than what you believe to be the greatest contribution you can make to the public as far as entertainment and humor goes, then ignore my criticism.

This episode kinda really sucked. And it's a shame your greatest asset didn't show up (Jeff Skowron). The "male gaze" is rampant in this episode. The whole rival filmmaker thing was just too cartoony and made the character of Xander even harder to stand than he already was. And the lesbian thing? Jesus. We can see that kind of humor on primetime cable TV.

I guess Douchebag Dave was kind of funny 'cause I grew up with those kind of guys, although they never did much growing up. But you can find Douchebag Daves on any street in any American city. I thought this show was about the naive and youthful hipster culture of Williamsburg. Just a big lack of focus.

Shape up.

Damn, you know what? That was harsh. I take it back. I'd rather be supportive of anyone doing anything creative. It's wonderful that this show even exists.

Love.

Well, I wouldn't say this "epper" was hit or miss, rather it was hit and miss. i will give a breakdown of what hit with me and what missed:
Hit-I really liked the conventional poker lighting. It looked great visually. The editing and directing was edgier than most episodes, but that wasn't a bad thing; it keeps things fresh, and its good to experiment and take risks just the same way a happy accident sometimes proves useful. Maria(Maya)-what can I say? She's wonderful and an excellent addition. You could roll 15 min. of her sitting on a park bench, doing nothing at all, and I would still be enamored and amused by her. Spring and Courtney's antics were all good. I found it very funny that Xander and Jed considered Maya one of the guys. ;)
Now the Miss: Jeff's(Ryan's) absence was all too apparent. I know you probably had a tough time working around his crazy b'way schedule. That's showbiz and therefore totally acceptable and understandable. I agree with the prior commentor on a couple of points. The focus was off the naive hipster theme which is the shows greatest strength and my reason for watching at all. But also that I support anything creative, which your show is, and I'll always watch and still love it when all is said and done. You guys are great! Everyone loves to tease hipsters. Don't stop. There is a lot of material in that. Some of the music, though good, didn't seem to drive the episode like in prior episodes. The music is almost a character of the show, but fell flat this time, but it''s still cool to showcase local talent and that deserves kudos. Lastly, I thought this episode could have been trimmed to a 4min short. It didn't cover a lot of ground to warrant a full length ep.
With that said, I still love and thank you for entertaining me and the effort you put in to the show. You do this in all your spare time for no money and I respect that a lot. I look forward to the next one.

I think what the show could use is some consulting from actual hipsters. This whole episode just feels out of touch and without focus.

Larry, that was a little ruff; did Moe and Curly tell you to say that 'without focus' thing ? You are one hip beagle.
Well not my favorite episode either but it is a personal thing with this dog. The whole poker thing brings to mind the velvet-dogs-playin-poker-painting which makes me think of bulldogs and then it reminds me of Spanky and Fanny next door. Stop the barking ! I did laugh watching the girls try to flirt to fit in. At least there was no butt-sniffing. My people daddy is coming back in so I have to act like I'm chewing on this laptop. later burgites, Calypso Pretty the Dog

I am kind of split on this episode. On the one hand nearly everything that Xander says or does is entertaining and Jed was cool as well, even though most of his lines were that lame joke with different intonations.

I don't like the character of Maia though apparently I am the only one to think so. I just don't think she fits in the show as I see all of the other characters are hopelessly awkwards, trying to adapt to the real world. Meanwhile Maia seems to be perfect at everything, which kind of ruins her potential for any itnerest. She does have her moments that I like though, such as the very end of this episode after the credits.

Perhaps not the best ep of all time...but Spring's performances just keep getting better. Especially this exchange...

Spring [drunk]: What are you...what are you doing?
Cort: I...I dunno, just...hand on knee.
Spring: I know. Why?

Subtle, yet amazing. Some real talent there. Also: decidedly adorable.
Keep it up!

Hipsters are a group of people so far up their own asses they need telescopes to see out. The episodes that work in my opinion are Training, Hip, Project, Bar and others because those episode play on the pretensions of being a Hipster living in Williamsburg. This is a comedy gold mine in itself, and is, i think why so many of us tune in. Therefore it’s disappointing that you need to release an episode like this, which seems simply stock sit-com material, it had very little edge and it could have been about any urban living people. I personally watch this as a witty criticism of the society we live in today. The reason why the Burg is so much better than its peers is because it has (currently) a unique slant on todays culture, please dont lose sight of this. Don’t take this the wrong way, the reason I took the time to write this is because I think this one of the best things on the internet, an absolutely fantastic show.

So I'm about a half hour from getting off work (this was about an hour ago), Lindsey comes in does her sneaky double sample thing and I discover that not too many people liked "Out". I think that's just crazy. The episodes are getting better and better. Not that they needed it before but they are also developing a higher level of continuity which makes them even more interesting then they already are. The show is developing as it should and you're all rocking it out. Word.

Just discovered your show this weekend as I am
a) in london
b) a bit crap

It's phenomenal.

I would love to host it over here and help grow its UK audience - let me know if that's of interest.
(PS for any of you guys reading this who enjoy this show and never watched UK's Nathan Barley - have a look http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nathan_Barley)

I thought this episode was a real step-up in both production quality and storyline... And the acting was fantastic. I liked how you allowed the boys and the girls to interact with each other separately, and they each seemed sort pathetic (and sympathetic) in their desire to be hip, which gave this episode a more significant, um, pathos. Oh well, who cares, the important thing to me is that the show continues to be FUNNY and not rehashing the same stuff, moving forward. Can't wait for season 2. xoxo
